Contract signed for application Xbloc concrete armour units Das Island, Abu Dhabi

Delta Marine Consultants (DMC) has signed a contract with Van Oord for the application of Xbloc concrete armour units on the shore protection of the land reclamation of the Planned development area in Das Island, Abu Dhabi.
Van Oord will apply Xblocs of 3 m3 on the shore protection with an approximate total quantity of 100,000 m3. The Xblocs will be cast in Ajman, capital city in the United Arab Emirates, and will be transported to site by sea.
The Xblocs will be cast using the horizontal casting method. The Xbloc mould for this casting method has been designed by BAM Speciale Technieken, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Casting of the Xblocs has already commenced.
